Due to the fact that the President of the Russian Federation declared April as a non-working month, we decided to change the dates of the qualifying tournament from May 1-3, 2020, shifting the competition by almost a month and a half from previous dates, and hoping that by the beginning of summer the competition will nevertheless become possible. We must provide the results of the tournament to the Japanese side by the end of June this year.

The goal of the tournament:
The tournament is held with the goal of finding a player who will represent the Russian shogi community at the ISF 2020.
Center of Children’s Creativity “Na Vadkovskom”, Moscow, Vadkovsky per., 3, office 208.
The tournament will consist of three stages:
- qualifying tournament according to the Swiss system in 7 rounds;
- semifinal matches of up to two wins between the players, who took the 1st and the 4th places in the qualifying stage and between players who took the 2nd and the 3rd places;
- final match to two wins.
10:00 – 10:45 — Registration of participants;
10:45 – 11:00 — opening of the tournament;
11:00 – 12:30 — 1st round;
12:30 – 14:00 — 2nd round;
14:00 – 15:00 — break;
15:00 – 17:30 — 3rd round;
17:30 – 19:00 — 4th round;
19:00 – 20:30 — 5th round;
11:00 – 12:30 — 6th round;
12:30 – 14:00 — 7th round;
14:00 – 15:00 — summing up the results of the first stage; break.
Subject to the equality of points in the qualifying tournament the following tiebreaks apply:
- Buchholz (without one result);
- the result of personal game;
- one match with 20 min + 40 sec time control.
15:00 – 17:30 — 1st game of semifinals;
17:30 – 19:00 — 2nd game of semifinals;
19:00 – 20:30 — 3rd game of semifinals;
11:00 – 12:30 — 1st game of the final match;
12:30 – 14:00 — 2nd game of the final match;
14:00 – 15:00 — break;
15:00 – 17:30 — 3rd game of the final match;
Tournament management and organization:
The general management and direct conduct of the tournament is provided by the panel of judges, who is guided by these Regulations on the conduct of the tournament.
Time control at all stages: 20 minutes of main time and 40 seconds per move without accumulation until the end of the game after the expiration of the main time.
The terms of participation:
All interested citizens of the Russian Federation are allowed to participate in the tournament. Participation in the tournament is free.
According to the results of semifinals and finals, all finalists of the tournament are awarded with diplomas and diplomas.
This Regulation is an official challenge to the tournament.
